Its that time of year....

Every year on the first friday after school starts back in January, we have our annual Girl Scout Sleep and Swim party. Now I am not as fond of this as the girls are. It means we sleep on the floor. And its quite chaotic. So for me, it isn't hours of fun. But the girls LOVE it. They can't wait on it every year. So I figured I would share some pictures from our night. It actually didn't go as bad as I thought it would. I had an air bed so that made a WORLD of difference.

Now for my first photo I am going to surprise you all. It is VERY rare that Madison DOES NOT want her picture taken. But it does happen. And last night we had one of those moments. But being the persistent mom I am, I insisted on doing it anyway. The result?

Now normally we work on badges. And those troops bridging to a new level will work on that level's badge. For example we are bridging to cadettes this year so we would have worked with the cadettes. But this year we did something different. We all made tie fleece blankets for the kids in the teen/kid shelter here in town. We decided to do community service instead of work on badges. Here are the tables ready for the girls to start....

The older girls had a cd player in the hallway. And this produced an impromptu dance party.





Each year the age levels divide up and go to their sleeping quarters. Brownies get the cafeteria, juniors the gym, cadettes get the auditorium stage etc etc. Well our girls were thrilled they got the gym and I was excited for a warmer place (the cafeteria is COLD). Turns out the gym is colder LOL. But let me tell you....when the Brownies came in to play in the gym our girls made sure to tell them it was ONLY for Juniors and they had to leave LOL

Conversations from the car...

Traveling to and from school with Madison is always interesting. Here is a tidbit from our travel today....it was me, my mom(Nana) and Madison in the car....

Me: Are you taking me to the overnight Friday or am I taking the car? (we have a girl scout sleepover friday that I DESPISE so I don't even like planning for it)
Nana: I don't know. Do you want to drive?
Madison: Mom? Since it is an overnight and since there will be girls there that like don't know you. Can you please ignore me? I will be ignoring you.
Me: Well you can't ignore me, I am still the leader and you have to listen to me.
Madison: Well I know THAT. But I mean let's not act like we are family okay?

Fast Forward to when we get home and are getting out of the car....
Nana: What is that all over the seat?
Madison: Thats muffin
Nana: Put it in that bag to throw away
Madison: You are crabby
Nana: I'm not crabby. I just don't want muffin all over my car seat
Madison: You never do. MUFFIN HATER!

And a bonus one from the other night....to get the full impact of this story you must know that Madison is in that DO NOT KISS ME phase. Never. Even at home when its just us. She does NOT want a kiss.....heres the conversation....

Me: Come here
Madison: Why?
Me: I want to tell you a secret
Madison (looking skeptical): About what
Me: Well if I say it, it isn't much of a secret
Madison (thinking about it): Well.....okay
She moves slightly closer
Me: I can't whisper that far...come here
Madison: No
Me: Come on. I need to tell you a secret. It's important
MAdison: well....okay
She leans her ear up to my face and I sneak in and give her a kiss.
Madison: I am soooooooo going to have trust issues.
